Morgan Smith
Morgan Smith, who graduated from Columbia College and Mannes College of Music at The New York Philharmonic's Columbia University, was a Seattle Opera Young Artist (1999-2000). In 2001, he made his stage debut with Billy Budd as Donald. An absolute favorite for audiences in Seattle Mr. Smith has performed roles in 12 different productions since that debut -- including the role of Count Alamaviva of Le nozze di Figaro, Don Giovanni (title role), Silvio in I Pagliacci, Riccardo in I Puritani, and Peter Niles in Mourning Becomes The Electra. Smith has been a regular performer and a frequent guest on stage, made the Dallas Symphony debut in Bach's St. Matthew Passion. He also performed his part in the North American premier of Detlef Glanert's orchestral version of Brahmspopular cycle Vier Praludien and Ernste Gesange as part of the San Antonio Symphony. Beethoven's Ninth Symphony is also on the agenda, along with the Requiems written by Brahms Faure Mozart Durufle, the Masses C Minor Mozart Vaughan Williams and Bach's B Minor Mass. Handel's Messiah, L'Allegro Penseroso Moderato, Haydn's Lord Nelson Mass, Bach's B Minor Mass, many Cantatas, as well as Bach's Weihnachts Oratorium.
